Former Watford striker Troy Deeney claims Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is not a world-class player.
Salah has become a Reds legend, scoring 221 goals and providing 99 assists in 366 appearances in all competitions since joining the club in 2017.
The winger has lifted the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool and has continued his fine form this season, scoring 10 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for Arne Slots’ side.
However, Deeney does not believe Salah is one of the best players in the world as he does not fit any of the criteria.
“I think Mohamed Salah is very good, he’s a very important part of Liverpool and they shouldn’t let him get to this point,” Deeney said.
“But I understand there’s a financial structure around what they want to try and maintain,”
“My argument has always been that I don’t think he’s world-class.”
“But world class is just a matter of opinion. What I think is world class is, I would ask myself, do I want my child to play like that? That’s what I think is world class.”
“If you ask me what kind of striker I want my son to be, I would say I would rather see what Vinicius Junior does than play like Mohamed Salah.
“But his goals that he (Salah) scores, he scores incredible goals, he’s very efficient, but that’s just my opinion.”
“He might turn Promotion ufabet around and say, ‘Who the hell is Troy?’ and fair enough, but that’s my opinion.”
